About Chandra

A quiet, considered practice for leaders ready to grow into their fullest expression.

I’m Dr. Chandra Story. I began the Rooted and Flourishing Wellness program as our signature program of Imani Coaching Enterprises, LLC. Rooted and Flourishing is designed to support and transform female clergy and ministry leaders in Christian houses of worship and non-profit organizations. It is a virtual wellness program rooted in God’s Word, designed with best practices, and implemented in a communal environment curated for flourishing.

I have served as a ministry leader and licensed minister for more than 30 years in various ministry roles and denominations across five states. Currently, I serve at First Baptist Church of Murfreesboro as a licensed minister, choir member, and member of the Mother’s board.

I’m also a professor of Public Health at Middle Tennessee State University. My past career posts comprise more than 20 years in higher education and community public health. As a university professor, scholar, and conference presenter, I’ve collaborated with my peers to prepare college students for careers in public health. I’ve used my voice of encouragement and guidance to both students and community members in community service and health advocacy.

For many female Christian leaders, maintaining wellness can be challenging in the face of work, home, and ministry obligations. Our commitment to health is deeply intertwined with our relationship with Christ and ourselves. I attribute my wellness journey to a life rooted in Biblical principles. My parents, both Christians, set the foundation for wellness in our home. My legacy of Sunday school and lifelong Christian education has enriched my journey. I’m also blessed to have a husband, Xaviery, who is committed to loving God and the body of Christ. Rooted and Flourishing Wellness Program is our latest collaboration in service to others.

We look forward to seeing our clients not just exist, but flourish!

“The leaders I most admire are not the loudest — they are the most rooted.”

Statement of Faith

What We Believe

Jesus Christ

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He lived a sinless life, died on the cross for the sins of humanity, was buried, and rose again on the third day, securing victory over sin and death.

Scripture References: Matthew 1:18–23; Luke 1:26–35; John 1:1–5, 14; Hebrews 4:15; Isaiah 53:4–6; Romans 5:8; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Peter 2:24; Revelation 1:17–18.

Salvation Through Christ Alone

We believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to a restored relationship with God the Father. Through His life, death, and resurrection, all who place their faith in Him receive forgiveness of sins and the gift of eternal life.

Scripture References: John 3:16–18; John 14:6; Acts 4:12; Romans 5:1; Romans 10:9–13; Ephesians 2:13–18; Colossians 1:13–22; 1 Timothy 2:5–6.

Salvation by Grace Through Faith

We believe that salvation is available to all who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Salvation is by God's grace through faith and cannot be earned by human works. As declared in John 3:16, God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.

Scripture References: John 3:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 16:30–31; Romans 3:23–24; Romans 6:23; Romans 10:9–10; Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5–7; 2 Peter 3:9.

The Holy Scriptures

We believe that the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. We accept the full counsel of Scripture as God's divine revelation and our final authority for faith, doctrine, and daily living.

Scripture References: Psalm 19:7–11; Psalm 119:105; Isaiah 40:8; Matthew 5:17–18; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; Hebrews 4:12; 2 Peter 1:20–21.

The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ), and God the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal, coeternal, and one in essence, working together in perfect unity according to the teaching of Scripture.

Scripture References: Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 3:16–17; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1–3; John 10:30; John 14:16–17; John 15:26; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Ephesians 4:4–6.

The Holy Spirit, His Filling, and Spiritual Gifts

We believe that on the Day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit was poured out upon the Church, inaugurating the promise of the Father and providing all believers the opportunity to be filled with the Holy Spirit for holy living, empowerment, witness, and ministry (Acts 2:1–4; Acts 2:16–18; Acts 2:38–39; Ephesians 5:18; Acts 4:31).

We believe that Jesus Christ has given apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to equip the saints, build up the Body of Christ, and prepare believers for the work of ministry until the Church reaches unity and maturity in Him (Ephesians 4:11–16).

We believe that all spiritual gifts described in Scripture remain active and operative today through the work of the Holy Spirit. These gifts are given for the common good, the edification of the Church, the proclamation of the Gospel, and the glory of God. Every believer is encouraged to seek the fullness of the Holy Spirit and to exercise spiritual gifts in love and in accordance with biblical instruction (1 Corinthians 12:4–11, 27–31; 1 Corinthians 14:1; Romans 12:6–8; 1 Peter 4:10–11; Ephesians 4:7–13).

Women in Ministry

We believe that women and men are equally created in the image of God and are co-heirs of His grace. Through the power of the Holy Spirit, God calls, equips, and empowers women and men alike to serve in every area of ministry according to His gifting. Women are indispensable to the mission of the Church and are called to faithfully exercise their spiritual gifts for the edification of the Body of Christ and the advancement of the Gospel (Genesis 1:26–28; Joel 2:28–29; Acts 2:17–18; Galatians 3:28; Romans 12:4–8; 1 Corinthians 12:4–11; Ephesians 4:11–13; Romans 16:1–7).
